This year, Give Day Tampa Bay is helping your nonprofit gain momentum in your online fundraising campaign through the “secured pledge” period. During the window of time of April 18th - May 1st before the big 24 hour Give Day on May 2nd, online donations made to your organization page or connected fundraiser page will count towards your leaderboard and the overall event totals.

Things to note about the “Secured Pledges” period:
Donations made during the secured pledge period are made IN REAL TIME! That means that individuals looking to donate to your campaign can do so ahead of time and the donation will process immediately and also be counted towards your overall event totals.

What is Give Day Tampa Bay?

Give Day Tampa Bay is a 24-hour, online giving event on May 2, 2017, presented by the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay to showcase nonprofits and offer them an opportunity to share their stories, raise money to support their missions and expand their donor base.

What is the goal?

The goal is to bolster charitable giving to the Tampa Bay region’s nonprofit community and raise awareness and support for the region’s entire nonprofit community. Give Day Tampa Bay:

  • Makes giving easy and fun
  • Shows the impact of collective giving and effort
  • Raises awareness about local nonprofit and their important work in the community
  • Helps nonprofits learn new online giving and outreach skills to gain new donors and advocates

How does it work?

On May 2, 2017, the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay will host Give Day Tampa Bay, a 24-hour giving event encouraging charitable donations through our online giving platform, hosted by Razoo.

Razoo will provide toolkits, training sessions, outreach support, mass media and social media coverage to make it easy for all nonprofits to participate. Each participating organization will have an individualized web page to promote their cause. This web page can also be used for year-round online fundraising. Individuals will be able to donate money to the nonprofit organizations of their choice on May 2, 2017. All donations are tax deductible and irrevocable. (Donations will not be refunded). Donors will receive a receipt for their gift. The nonprofit will receive contact information for each donor, unless the donor elects to remain anonymous.

The Razoo Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization which permits donors to advise a re-granting of their donations to other IRS recognized qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations, will accept the gifts and will then re-grant the monies to the nonprofits selected by the donors.

Who is behind it?

Give Day Tampa Bay is presented by the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. The online giving is hosted by Razoo. Razoo is the industry leader in 24-hour giving days, with a crowdfunding platform built to serve all 501(c)(3) nonprofits. Philanthropy is the core mission of Razoo, and the company is committed to creating opportunities to support nonprofits.

How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?

During Give Day Tampa Bay, the Razoo Foundation – which processes the transactions and disburses money to the nonprofits -- will retain 6.9% plus $0.30 per transaction for Razoo Foundation expenses and campaign costs (including credit card transaction costs). Donors have the option to cover these fees during the checkout process, allocating 100% of their intended donation to your nonprofit.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation?

The minimum donation for Give Day Tampa Bay is $5.00. There is no maximum donation limit for Give Day Tampa Bay.

Is there a limit to the amount an organization can receive?

There is no maximum amount an organization may receive for Give Day Tampa Bay.

Do I need an account on Razoo to donate?

No, you do not need to create an account to make a donation. However, if you plan to give multiple times during Give Day Tampa Bay, creating an account means you only have to enter your credit card information once. Your account also collects your tax receipts in one location and enables you to track your donation, review the charities your support and schedule future giving.

Can I donate to Give Day Tampa Bay on my smart phone?

Yes – this site is mobile friendly! Simply visit GiveDay.org on your smartphone to browse all the amazing nonprofits participating.

Can I make my donation early for Give Day Tampa Bay?

Donations made from April 18th on will count towards the Give Day totals for your favorite participating nonprofit(s). Any donations made through GiveDay.org before this time are disbursed to the nonprofit. Donations made before April 18th, however, do not count towards a participating nonprofit's leaderboard totals, prize incentives during May 2nd or the over all Give Day totals.

Can I donate to Give Day by writing a check?

Donations made directly to the organization via check will count toward the organization's overall total. Checks will not count toward prizes.

Can I fundraise for my favorite nonprofit?

Yes! You can be a hero for the cause(s) you care about – we call these Free Agent Fundraisers! Alternatively, you can visit the Organization Page of any nonprofit listed on Razoo and click “Fundraise” to start the page creation process. Please note that in order to create a Fundraising Page you will be prompted to sign into your Razoo user account, or create one if you don’t already have an account.

When individuals donate for Give Day Tampa Bay, who will receive their information?

The nonprofit organization receiving the donation will receive the contact information for the donor in order to conduct follow up communications, unless the donor chooses to make an anonymous donation. As the hosts of Give Day Tampa Bay, Razoo will also receive the information in order to send news and updates about Give Day related activities. We will not share your information.

Can my employer match my contribution? Will the matching funds show on the leaderboards?

Any donations your organization receives can be matched through an employer matching program and donors are encouraged to submit their donations to their employers for matching funds. However, employer matches will not be applied to the nonprofits leaderboard or the overall total of Give Day Tampa Bay.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations who do work in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties are eligible to participate in Give Day Tampa Bay.

What does my nonprofit need to do?

  • Register your nonprofit through the online registration form Your registration will be processed by the Razoo Customer support team and must be completed by every participating nonprofit.
  • Once approved (within 48 hours of registration), you will be granted access to your nonprofit page on givedaytampbay.razoo.com. This is the page you will update to tell your campaign story and share to promote your nonprofit on Give Day.
  • Participate in online training to make most of your campaign. Sign Up for the trainings below:
  • Create a landing page for your organization using the Razoo platform.
  • Broadcast your campaign's message using existing communication networks.
  • Utilize the Give Day Tampa Bay logo and other provided images and messages consistent with the branding guidelines.
  • Secure matching grants and prizes to entice donors to your group.
  • Recruit individuals to be Free Agent Fundraisers for your organization.
  • Consider organizing an outreach event or community stunt to help further increase exposure for your organization.

Is there a fee to participate?

Participating nonprofits pay a small participation fee at the time of registration (Register before the end of February, $25; in March, $35; or in April, $50). As giving days have grown and evolved, it has become a best practice nationally to charge a nominal fee to better engage nonprofits.

All donations on GiveDay.org will be processed through the Razoo Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization which permits donors to advise a re-granting of their donations to IRS 501(c)(3) organizations. 100% of your online charitable gift is receipted and advised for re-grant to your chosen charity. Razoo Foundation will retain 6.9% plus $0.30 of each donation made during Give Day Tampa Bay to cover platform and credit card fees. Donors will have the opportunity to cover those fees so that the full amount of their donation will be directed to your organization.

How does my organization report checks to count on Give Day?

Check specifications:

  • Made payable to your participating nonprofit organization.
  • Memo line: "Give Day Tampa Bay"
  • Dated between April 18 - April 30
  • To submit checks: send an email by NOON on May 1 to giveday@cftampabay.org.
  • Email subject line: “Give Day Checks"
  • Body of email:
    • Total number of unique donors
    • Total amount of checks

DO NOT SEND COPIES OF CHECKS. Please send ONE email with your completed information, rather than multiple emails to report individual checks. If you have a special circumstance or an event that will prohibit checks from being submitted by NOON on May 1, email giveday@cftampabay.org before May 1st to let us know the details of when you expect to submit.

**Checks are not applicable to Prizes.

** Checks, matches, and other offline gifts will count toward the OVERALL LEADERBOARD but not individual nonprofits total on their respective pages or prizes.

**Your organization is responsible for depositing the check, and any associated fees.

**The monetary value of all checks will be added to your Give Day total, but will not be included in your payment from the Razoo Foundation.

Do you have video tutorials that explain the site and how it works?

How will an organization know who has donated to them?

Organizations that have registered on Razoo can track donations in real time by logging in to their Razoo account. Organizations will also receive an email notification for every donation. Nonprofits can download a detailed donation report at any time through their account to thank and follow-up with individual donors and tabulate donation value and number of donors. This .csv file can be used in Excel and is widely compatible with other spreadsheet applications.

Do I need to issue a tax receipt to my donors?

No, donations made through Razoo will be receipted from the Razoo Foundation. However, we do encourage you to send a thank you note to your donors letting them know how awesome they are!

When will my organization receive the funds contributed?

Normally, the Razoo Foundation will disburse monies on the 10th of the month following receipt of the donation. For the May 2, 2017 events, monies will be disbursed by check on June 10, 2017. Receiving the funds via check is the default disbursement option for Give Day. Disbursements are mailed by Razoo Foundation to the legal registered address of a nonprofit. Submit a request to update your nonprofit's disbursement address in the edit tab of your administrator panel or by emailing support@razoo.com.

Community Foundation of Tampa Bay can modify any restrictions or conditions if, in the sole judgment of the Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community. As such, Community Foundation of Tampa Bay reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.

How do matching grants work?

Any participating nonprofit or fundraiser can set up their own matching grant for the big day! Using a matching grant as additional incentive for your campaign has proven to increase the amount raised for your online fundraising campaign. Set up a 1:1 matching grant on your page via the visual matching grant feature using the below steps:

Step 1: Log Into your user account that has access to your page

Step 2: Navigate to the “Matching Grant” section of your administrative page and set up the details of your match - your match should be scheduled for a start date on or after April 18th, 2017 as this is when donations to your page begin counting towards the campaign.

Step 3: Once the information is added to your matching grant, select Add a Matching Grant to schedule the grant or make it live (depending on your start date).

Step 4: Email giveday@cftampabay.org with the subject line “matching gifts” by May 1 with the details of your match. Include: the match amount, if the match will be given as a check or if through Razoo on Give Day, and any other pertinent specifics.

Step 5: Once the match is met: Forward the email from Razoo to giveday@cftampabay.org


How Matching Grants Work for Give Day:

SET UP A 1:1 MATCH: The matching grants feature provide a visual way for you to represent a 1:1 match on your organization or fundraiser page. Only 1 matching grant can be set up or scheduled at a time. You can consider combining your matches into one big match or you can add a remaining matching grant once the prior match is met through online donations. Your matching grant should be scheduled for a start date on or after April 18th, 2017 as this is when donations to your page begin counting towards the campaign.

ONLINE DONATIONS TO YOUR PAGE: Matching grants set up on a page count the online donations against the match as they come through directly on the page where the match is set up. A matching grant will close automatically once the amount of the match is met with online donations made directly to the page. An automated email is sent to the email address entered when the match was set up once the match is fulfilled.

LEADERBOARD TOTALS: Only donations made online to an organization page (or connected fundraiser page) from April 18th through Give Day reflect in the overall leaderboard total
